Kan-I (Convenience) and Service Portable Radios
Convenience and Service Radios are available in both UHF and VHF models. The newest convenience UHF models also include digital frequencies.
Convenience models may have a maximum of 5watts of output and a transmission range of up to 5km*(all ranges vary due to location, environment and other factors).
The UHF models operate between 465~468 MHz and the VHF in the 154MHz range.
Service models operate in both UHF and VHF ranges on frequencies specifically allotted to the user.

These short area radios have a maximum of 10 milliwatts of output power and a transmission range of approximately 300m*. Because of the low power output of the radios, licensing is not necessary. These models operate in the422 MHz range
